Beyond Words

Three months after the end of the poem world per month we are into complex phrases. Some recent favorites:

"No too-loud-cooking, Mommy!": The warning uttered each night for the last two weeks when I go to cook dinner. Translates as "please don't set off the smoke alarm again!" (I mean, the "good cook" alarm).

Tonight: "I a baby polar bear. I eat strawberries. RROOOOOAAAAAAR!". Scared?

Last week in the hammock at dusk: "I hear cadas (cicadas). CHOMP! I EAT cadas. I eat cadas in my mouth"

A few weeks ago, looking at an old christmas picture with Annie next to a Mule ("Mule-tide greetings"). "CHOMP. No eat Annie, horse!"

Apr 22: haircut

Apr 21:NoEatMommy

Said repeatedly while he was drifting off to sleep. Maybe he meant no biting. Maybe he's suppressing some cannibalistic tendencies. Maybe he's encouraging me to stick to my diet.

Apr 20: follobus

This is a new one, Paul is obsessed with school buses. Today he came up with the idea that I should just follow them (and became a little upset when a bus would turn and I didn't join it!)

Apr 19: iok!

Apr 18: icecream

April 17: cheesebooger

the response after explaining to a crying Paul that he shouldn't cry and whine but should use words to tell us what he wants --- the response was totally out of context given the situation and that we've never given him a cheeseburger before and didn't realize he knew what they were.

Apr 9: honeydaddy

I guess Paul has noticed that when I'm trying to get Andrew's attention, I call him "honey". Today, when Andrew has something Paul's asking for, we hear "Please, honeydaddy?".

Apr8: Armpit

Apr7: Jump!
